Professional VA By Design
If you have landed here then you’ve likely heard some of the buzz going on about Virtual Assisting. Are you a seasoned pro or just thinking about joining the ranks of the seasoned pros! Whatever your reasons, whatever your dreams, being a Professional Virtual Assistant is truly something special.
There are so many reasons today for being a VA – professional, economic, even environmental – but most of all, the reasons are very personal and they are different for each one of us. I’ve become very passionate about not only my reasons for choosing this, well, vocation, but about helping others be successful as VA’s too.
I’ve been a Virtual Assistant, as we know the term today, for over four years but for most of my (20+ years) career, I’ve been either self-employed or working at home. So when I heard about Virtual Assisting it was just natural that it be my next step. As a VA, I have worked independently and through a Virtual Staffing Agency (VSA), I have worked for a VSA and I have been a client with a team of VA’s. I’ve been around the VA block!
Through my travels in the VA World, I realized that some very talented and intelligent women were not enjoying the success they wanted as a Virtual Assistant. They had the dream – but it wasn’t coming true. And it really made me sad. I saw VA after VA leave to get a “real job” often having to leave their children in daycare.
At first, I just didn’t get it, I thought maybe they were just lazy or incompetent but over time, I realized that this was not true. These VA’s all had a few things in common and I knew that they were all problems that were easily solved. All that was missing were some very simple tools and systems. Tweak those and dreams come true! And yes, it is that simple. Ok, so it’s not always easy but not as hard as you might think either.
Every successful VA has had other women say to them, “you are so lucky, I wish I could do what you do.” The truth is that you can – with the right tools and resources. Virtual Assisting might not be Rocket Science but it’s not all Bon Bons and Soap Operas either. You have to be willing to make the commitment to doing the work, to learning and growing and above all to be a professional.
I am very passionate about helping women become and grow their Professional Virtual Assisting Business. I’ve learned a lot over the past few years, much of it from The School of Hard Knocks! I have found some excellent tools, resources and training programs and some that aren’t so great. I have yet to find any program that is a complete blueprint to setting up, managing, marketing and growing a VA Business while making money and keeping your sanity!
So – I created one.
There are articles and discussions on Starting, Marketing, Managing and Growing Your VA Business, as well as some general discussion categories such as The VA WaterCooler and VA’s Just Wanna Have Fun!
